Grace Church is:
A center for worship and fellowship
A school for discipleship and stewardship
A community for healing and outreach

TNT Program

The Twenties and Thirties (TNT) group at Grace Church encourages sharing of common life concerns and Christian fellowship, as we gather for social occasions and service projects. Our TNT community is ever-expanding, so we welcome all interested persons! Come join in one or two activities and let a member of our clergy know you’d like to join our e-mail list, so we can get acquainted.

Our group is varied, interesting, and “interested” in community activities—made up of folks just starting out and juggling bills, rent, work and play in our early 20s to those of us well seasoned in life’s hurdles and blessings—singles, parents and couples—all are welcome.

Coordinators

Heather Hurley is the 2008 vestry program coordinator for the TNT program and Marianne Swearingen is the non-vestry coordinator.

Catch a few photos of our trip down the New River April 28-29, 2007. Led by our intrepid former seminarian Mark Powell, nine TNTers enjoyed a West Virginia spring weekend.

Ongoing and Annual Events

  •  Divinity on Draft:
The TNT group meets once a month during the academic year for socializing and interesting theological discussions. We call it "Divinity on Draft."

If you have questions or to get on our mailing list, contact Jennifer Andrews-Weckerly, Heather Hurley, Marianne Swearingen or Mother Caroline by emailing them by using the formula
                firstname.lastname@gracealex.org.

  •  Each month:
TNT strives to gather for some social occasion monthly, either at church (potluck and games) or at someone’s home (happy hour, dinner, afternoon tea). Good conversation is always found, as are usually good snacks and fun stories, and sometimes an organized game or two!

  •  Spiritual Moms:
The Spirituality of Motherhood group meets on Tuesday mornings from 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM in the church library to socialize, pray and discuss topics related to motherhood. Child care is provided, although infants are welcome to remain with their mothers. Contact Alison Smith for more information.

You may reach Alison Smith using the formula
                 firstname.lastname@gracealex.org.

  •  Chili Bowl:
Grace Church’s Chili Bowl—Each January, we sponsor and host this annual evening chili cook-off as a fundraiser. Each of Grace’s program areas and ministries offer a pot or two of chili for the tasting, and our dinner guests “vote” by adding to their favorite tables’ tip jars.

  •  Easter:
Easter Baskets for needy children—TNT and Grace’s Outreach Committee make, collect and deliver Easter baskets for children (in Washington DC and Arlandria, Virginia) who otherwise would not receive any gifts at Easter. The actual baskets of goodies are donated by Grace parishioners, including TNT members.

  •  Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving baskets for needy families—TNT personally delivers baskets of food, prep items and other goodies to area families. The sign-up and collection of Thanksgiving baskets is coordinated with the Grace Outreach committee; the actual baskets of goodies are donated by Grace parishioners.
