God-willing, the Diocese of Virginia will elect a new Bishop Suffragan at a Special Convention on June 4, 2022.
The slate of nominees was announced on March 28 by the Search Committee. In accordance with the Canons of the Episcopal Church, a Petition Period was opened from March 28 through April 8, to allow for persons who may be called to stand for election, but for whatever reason were not part of the Search Committee process or ultimately identified as one of its recommended candidates.
The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Virginia will announce any qualified petition nominees by May 8th.
If there are petition nominees, their profiles and videos will be added to this page.
There will be opportunities to Meet and Greet the candidates for Bishop May 20-24, 2022 at various locations throughout the Diocese. The closest location to Grace Church will be held on Saturday, May 21 St. John’s Church, 6715 Georgetown Pike, McLean, Va. 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
All members of the Diocese are invited to submit questions to the nominees for consideration by the Transition Committee in developing the Meet and Greet sessions. Send your questions to bishoptransitionva@gmail.com using the subject line “Meet and Greet Questions.” Please provide your name, church name and location in case someone needs to contact you for clarity.
