Dear Friends in Christ—
Early on, I learned that being a parent meant constant change. As soon as I thought figured out the hungry, sleepless infant I brought home from the hospital, she turned into someone different, growing more awake, more curious, and more independent. It hasn’t stopped yet.
It is appropriate, then, that our first Sunday worshipping together in the nave happens to be Youth Sunday. We celebrate young people and the lessons they teach us: hunger for the world, curiosity, and adaptability. The baptismal service includes a prayer that the newly baptized may have “joy and wonder” in all God’s works. Our young people teach us the wonder of an ever-evolving world.
If you are coming at 9:00, you will read their prayers and hear their testimonies about life at Grace. I hope you will be ready to learn from their spiritual wisdom—wisdom which is the gift of youth, not only the accomplishment of age.
As you may remember from our annual meeting, Chrissie Crosby, who has ably been heading up family ministries for over a year, will be stepping down from that role on June 13. (You’ll hear more about plans to thank her, along with our Sunday School teachers, soon.). We will not be immediately hiring a full-time staff member, and there are many different possibilities for the future.
But the present moment needs you! Our Education and Youth team would love to hear from you. If you think our kids are pretty awesome (and my guess is that you will), reach out to support them through our programs. Lisa Bellantoni (erbellantoni@gmail.com) is the point of contact.
Yours in Christ,
Anne+
