Dear Friends in Christ,
Spring cleaning? Around churches, the real transformation happens in the summer.
I want you to be prepared for some of the work you will see underway this summer, as well as the reason it is all happening:
- Our Food Pantry rose to the need of the pandemic in early 2020, and we have worked hard since then to keep pace with the facility needs of this program. In order to give more dedicated storage space to this vital program, we will be incorporating the current Finance Office into the Parish Office space. During the month of July, the Parish Office will be reconfigured to allow our Director of Operations, Kevin Hamilton, to share space with our Financial Administrator, Mary Cyrus, as well as our new Operations Assistant, Madeline Manaker. In July, the Food Pantry storage in the hallways will be consolidated in the expanded Food Pantry offices.
- During the school year, a wonderful community of Sunday School parents has developed; they routinely overflow the space available in the elevator lobby where they gather. To expand the space for them—and to upgrade all of our meeting spaces—we will be refreshing both the Saint Mark and Saint John Rooms, with the hope of making the Saint John Room our default meeting space and creating more space for gathering on Sunday morning in Saint Mark.
- With our building being more heavily used in recent years, it gets dirtier. We’ll be doing deep cleaning in the Nursery, Godly Play Room, and Library, as well as some painting and other cosmetic work.
- We want to give our new Assistant for Family Ministries, Mother Emma, a fresh canvas to work on. Several of our storage closets are filled will outdated supplies and materials from old Sunday School and youth projects. We’ll be cleaning out those spaces ahead of her arrival.
If you have questions about this work, please talk to one of the clergy, Kevin Hamilton, or Junior Warden Robby Schrum.
And if you think this sounds like a good idea? Please help! We will be having a work day on Saturday, August 5. The more, the merrier. And the cleaner.
Yours in Christ,
Anne+
