Rise Up Against Hunger Event Youth Event and Youth Night!
On March 5, the Grace Church youth are hosting youth from Region IV in a food packing party from 2:30-4:30. These events are high energy and fast paced. In two hours, forty plus teenagers will pack over 10,000 nutritionally sound rice dinners that will be distributed around the world. Our youth will begin set up at 1:30. Following the event, we will head to Pizza Hut for a much-needed buffet dinner! Cost for dinner is $12, which includes tax and tip. Following dinner, we will return to Grace for group games and fellowship. Pick up is at 8 pm.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed
Additional volunteers are needed to support our ongoing commitment to the Alexandria Meals on Wheels program. Grace has supported this outreach program for several decades. Meals are delivered to seniors who are unable to leave their homes to shop or have difficulty preparing meals. The program is sponsored by Senior Services of Alexandria with support from the City of Alexandria, loyal volunteers and donors. The meals are cooked and packaged for delivery by paid professional staff.
Grace participates on the first Friday of each month. The time commitment is about 2 hours delivering meals on one of 6 routes (approximately 70 meals). Volunteers meet at Jeffery’s Catering (4417 Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria) at 10:00 a.m. A driver and runner are assigned to each route. If you would like to participate in this important mission, please contact Mike Reed at mike.reed@gracealex.org.
Brown Bag Lunch Week – March 13 – 17
There is still a need for 40 more sandwiches for the week in quantities of 10 or 20, and one server on Thursday and one on Friday to partner with experienced servers. Either sign up on the Outreach bulletin board or e-mail linda.waskowicz@gracealex.org.
Marcel Dupré’s Le Chemin de la Croix
Join us on Friday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. for Le Chemin de la Croix by French organist-composer Marcel Dupré. The Stations of the Cross has been a devotional tool for centuries, its beauty inspiring poets and musicians alike. Marcel Dupré’s celebrated musical commentaries on the stations were first improvised in concert in alternation with stanzas of French poet Paul Claudel’s “Le Chemin de la Croix,” and later Dupré notated his improvisations, creating one of the masterpieces of music for the pipe organ. The entire cycle will be played by organists Josh Boyd, Aaron Tan, Richard Newman, and Jeremy David Tarrant, with Claudel’s poems interspersed and read by Wendy Wilmer. Suggested donation at the door: $10 (adults), $5 (students and seniors)
