  • life-giving liturgical worship
  • joyful community
  • empowering others

We live our mission through worship, in which lay adults, children and youth participate alongside our clergy.  Traditional, life-giving Eucharistic liturgy and fine music are hallmarks of worship at our parish, and we have weekly services in both English and Spanish.  We create a joyful community with a harvest of fellowship activities and events for all ages.  We empower and serve others through vital ministries, particularly around feeding the hungry.  Please explore our website to get to know us or, better yet, come visit!

Message from Mother Jenny: 01.19.2024

In the event you missed Wednesday’s emailed message from Mother Jenny with important updates in the life of our parish, we are reposting it today here in the weekly clergy letter.

A Message from Mother Jenny- January 17, 2024

Dear Grace Church,

I’m writing to share some good news and an update.

First, I’m pleased to share that I will be extending my time with you and continuing as your Priest Locum Tenens through August of this year. This decision was made with the affirmation of Bishop Stevenson and a unanimous vote by the Vestry last evening. There are still several logistical things to work out, such as extending my lease and adding an addendum to my current Letter of Agreement, but the decision to remain with you for longer feels right to me.

What energizes me the most about extending my time at Grace is the opportunity we have to work together toward healing and reconciliation. For as our prayer book states, “the mission of the church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.”

In the coming weeks, more will be shared about how we will go about this process. Briefly, it will be a three-phase developmental process for healing, reconciliation, and moving forward that will be created in close consultation with both diocesan staff and the Vestry.

  • Lent (Feb-March) – a Lenten series of parish-wide Sacred Conversations designed to help us talk openly about our current situation.
  • Easter (April-May) – conversations with the Vestry and parish about restoring relationships and reconciling with Mother Anne, regardless of employment status.
  • Pentecost (June-July) – conversations with the Vestry and parish about Grace’s missional purpose and identity; discernment of what Grace needs in a rector moving forward; discernment of calling Mother Anne to return as rector or calling an interim rector to support the work of a search committee.

As you can see, this is work we will be doing together. And I look forward to seeing how the Spirit leads us through this time of transition and into the future.

I would like to provide one final update.  Yesterday we sent an email regarding vestry nominations and included details about the Budget Forum taking place this coming Sunday.  In further review, we have decided to move the Budget Forum to the Merrow Hall auditorium on the third floor to provide more space for those who would like to attend.  This will also require that the forum begin at 9:40 am to allow time for Little Church to end and for the space to be prepared for the forum.  A zoom option will still be available for those who cannot attend in person.

Gratefully,
Mother Jenny+
